Melanie Rehberg

Sales assistant

Ms Rehberg, first tell us something about yourself!

My name is Melanie Rehberg, 29 years old. Although I’m not a native of Hamburg, I’ve always felt drawn to this beautiful Hanseatic city – because of work, friends, restaurants, concerts, musicals, the proximity to the North Sea and much more.

What did you do before you started working at KROENERT?

Unlike most people, I don’t come from an industrial background. In fact I trained as a hotel manager and gained a further six years of experience in the field before joining the ATH team on 1 July 2019. As a receptionist, I gained a foothold in the company and now I am happy to support the sales department as a sales assistant.

How did you hear about KROENERT?

I was no stranger to KROENERT, as my sister had already completed her training here and has been with the company ever since. I also did a school internship where I gained a great impression of the company and its family-like atmosphere. All this – and the fact that it was the perfect time for a change – made me make this good decision.

What do you think makes a good employee in your field of work?

A good sales assistant (m/f/d) is always friendly and attentive in dealing with customers and in general telephone calls. Of course, good preparation and organisation, whether for travel requests or sales activities, must not be lacking.

What keeps you going on a day-to-day basis?

Give someone a smile and you’ll get one back. It’s this small gesture that keeps me motivated every day to sit at work with a smile and give my best.

What has been the most exciting project for you so far?

The most exciting project for me so far was the opening of a new hotel. It was a great experience to see how everything is created and built.

How much freedom do you need at work?

It’s important for me to have the freedom to contribute my own ideas and suggestions.

The buzzwords digitalization and Industry 4.0 are on everyone’s lips, and they’re key issues at KROENERT, too. What was your first encounter with the digital age?

My first encounter with the digital age were the classic pre-installed PC games like Solitaire, Mahjong and Minesweeper.

Oh no, power failure – what do you do now?

Put on the candles and fairy lights (battery-operated) and get out the board games.

Favourite gadget?

Technically speaking? As a film and series junkie, probably the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

How do you get to work in the morning – bike, car or train/local transport?

On Mondays mostly by car and the rest of the week by train. I travel back home the same way as I came.

Just woken up – what happens next?

First a morning shower to start the day feeling fresh and relaxed.

Your tip for Hamburg:

Definitely do the Hamburg Harbour Lights Tour. You learn a lot about the port of Hamburg and the surrounding area and it’s simply a beautiful backdrop in the evening.

You’re a bottle of Becks. Where do you want to be opened?

If my life has to end as a Beck’s bottle, then preferably in Australia on the beach or in Iceland by the geysers when the Northern Lights can be seen.

The app that changed my life:

Facebook gave me my better half.

I’ll start on it tomorrow:

Drink much more water to get my full daily requirement.

What is your motto in life?

To be happy is not to have the best of everything, but to make the best of everything.
