Since the beginning of January Marco Schubert has been at the helm of the KROENERT Technology Center in Hamburg. "The incredible diversity of this task is what excites me," says Schubert, "the search for the optimum coating, cooperation with customers, research centers and the internal R&D department keep boredom at bay!"
After studying Chemical Engineering at Emden he completed his diploma thesis in Trondheim, Norway, before starting work as a project engineer in the chemical industry. "In this sector it is difficult to make a difference," explains Schubert, "because of the sheer size of the equipment project, runtimes are very long. But I want to make a difference!" The opportunity to do so came with a move into medical technology. Initially he spent several years as a Development Engineer and then as Group Leader Process Development, helping his employer register a number of patent applications in product packaging and coating.
All of this makes him the ideal appointment to head up the Hamburg Technology Center: a sound technical background combined with a drive for innovation, the ability to see the bigger picture and the desire to make a difference.
Activity and progress are also key in Marco Schubert’s everyday life – whether kitesurfing on the North Sea or learning new chords on the guitar. "At the moment my seven month old son is my priority," laughs Schubert, "he really keeps us on our toes!"
