Prepreg Lines for Horizontal and Vertical Processes
|
Naturally, as a worldwide player in the Coating and Laminating machine field, Kroenert is also completely at home in the composite market. The resin coating machine is part of the companys portfolio for more than 25 years.
For some years Kroenert is producing lines for the manufacture of prepregs for use in the aviation and space industry, wind energy plants, medical technology, automotive and ship building as well as the sports equipment industry. These composites, using carbon, glass or aramid fibers, combine outstanding mechanical and chemical properties with extra low weight.
For prepregs, Kroenert offers lines for horizontal as well as vertical processes.
The horizontal process is comprising epoxy resin film coating machines (PAK 400 EP) and horizontally arranged impregnation lines (RECO EP) for mono, bi or multi-axial fabrics as well as UD tapes with unidirectional fiber alignment.
In the vertical process, the materials are directly impregnated or coated with solventbased resin. Then, the solvent is evaporated in a vertically-aligned dryer.
All lines for the production of prepregs are characterized by precision and versatility:
Processing of all types of fabrics, tapes and rovings in varying quality and with different resin contents
controlled unwinding tension of spools or reels
Optimized feeding of tapes, rovings and materials
Precise capture and control of web tension within the line
Roller deflection compensation
Precise roller settings of max. +/- 1,5 ΅m (hydraulic setting)
High-precision rollers with tolerances of < 2΅m
Minimum coating weight tolerances of max. +/- 1% (depending on material)
Consistent and reproducible nip settings
Exact temperature control of rollers, dryers, heating and cooling plates of +/- 1°C accuracy
Individual profile for air circulation and temperature control in the dryers for the prevention of skin formation (vertical process)
Systems for heat recovery and exhaust air treatment (vertical process)
Various designs for single and turret winders, with a turret winder splice rate of 99.5% or better

The modular design of all Kroenert lines enables customer requirements to be taken into consideration during the construction phase. In addition, existing lines can be expanded with minimal effort.
The following options are available for the prepreg lines (examples):
Motorized setting of rollers
nip pressure and contactless gap measurement
Edge and center cut
Closed loop control of coating weight in combination with coating weight measurement system
Lifting tables and cranes for reel loading and unloading
Turnkey installation
Kroenert offers a complete package, from the initial advisory discussion via the Techology Center to the handover of the completed line for production. And from the start of operations, a team of experts in process technology as well as the worldwide after-sales service team are ready to help you.
