3D Construction with CAD
Kroenert has been using the modern NX CAD 3D System by Unigraphics (Siemens) since 2006 – an investment which has proved its worth. Parallel to the existing Medusa 2D system, new modules and component assemblies are increasingly being designed in 3D. The new PAK 610 is the first machine to be designed completely in three dimensions.

Team-oriented Data Management
A link between the 3D CAD program and a Project Data Management System (PDM) makes simultaneous real-time design work by multiple developers on one machine possible – doing away with the tiresome combining of the individual design elements. The fact that all participants work on a single element means that the status of work is always current. Connections between individual component assemblies and parts are immediately visible, and motion simulation allows early testing of all functions. Potential problems can then be recognised and remedied.

Time-saving
Thanks to the more efficient tools inherent to the CAD system, duplicated data management is no longer necessary. Parts lists are created from the PDM system and forwarded to Production and Purchasing.

Increased Quality
The true-to-life representation by 3D CAD makes exact analysis and optimization, particularly in respect of consistency and weight, possible. An integrated Finite Element Module (FEM) permits exact density calculations of individual assemblies and parts.

Transfer of Data to Production Control of the machine tools in production is linked directly to the 3D models, ensuring that the exact dimensions required for a perfect fit are applied from the start.

Illustration
The three-dimensional plastic representation of the machines simplifies their presentation to customers. It makes participation in the development process by decision-makers with little or no detailed knowledge much easier. A photo-realistic impression of the line is available before production is started. Structural planning of the machine within the framework specified by the customer is possible prior to commencement. 3D CAD permits exact planning of the spatial or build environment, from piping to power supply.

Documentation and Maintenance
The photo-realistic imaging of the 3D models can also be used for the documentation of the machines. Easily understandable exploded assembly diagrams, which greatly increase ease of maintenance, can be generated from the data.

Using 3D CAD in design enables the quick and effective planning and finishing of machines; over and above this, the customer is integrated in the process from the start. Thus, Kroenert offers their customers complete transparency in the entire design process.
