Time is Money – Minimized Downtime with Sleeve Technology
|
Downtime, in which a machine is not operational, is a substantial production cost factor. Up to 1.5 hours was the normal replacement time for a gravure roller. At Drupa 2008, Kroenert presented as worldwide first – the solution to this problem. Sleeve technology for ceramic gravure rollers and smooth rollers reduces the time required by one person to exchange a roller to 15 minutes (see illustration). Today, one year later,
| |
this technology is available as standard in all Kroenert systems.
Sleeve technology is well-known in rubber and backing rollers and has been used for years in web width change. Now the new development, using sleeve technology for gravure and smooth steel rollers, immensely increases production capability since changes to the application mass and/or application weight are easily executed – including multiple daily changes.
The sleeve body with its special multi-layer construction has multiple applications, e.g. metering of coatings, coatings in forward and reverse mode, in new and used applications, fixed or in the trolley version.
In addition there are also logistic advantages. The weight of the sleeve body is only 10% of the weight of a standard gravure roller (21kg at 1300 mm working width). Storage space is decreased dramatically.
Come and see the advantages of sleeve technology for yourself. The line at the Kroenert Technology Center has also been fitted with gravure roller sleeve technology – simply contact us to make an appointment for a demonstration.
