Please introduce yourself shortly!
I live in Hamburg since October 2018. Being close to the water to go kitesurfing makes Hamburg my favorite place. I have spent a lot of time abroad, e.g. in India, the US, Spain, which has inspired me to meet people from other cultures and learn from them.
What have you done before joining KROENERT?
I have been with Ford Motor Company for 5 years in Cologne and Valencia, Spain in the Purchasing department.
How did KROENERT get onto your radar?
I wanted to move back to the north of Germany where I grew up and gain experience in purchasing in a mid-sized company after my exposure to the serial procurement in a large and global company.
What did you find attractive about KROENERT?
KROENERT has a well know success story and is innovative and active in the global market. There are plenty of possibilities to develop further personally and technically. The flat and open hierarchy give me the opportunity to contribute my ideas and experiences positively and implement them.
What are your aims as Commodity Manager?
One part is to closely monitor the market in terms of current and future possible risks and opportunities but also to create a work culture where all departments work closely together as a team. Furthermore, it is my goal to build strong relationships with our suppliers to get the best products for our customers.
What does that mean precisely?
In order to adapt to the changing and fast market place and to deliver the best product to our customer, it is vital to work closely with all departments in an open and respectful way to make use of all the knowledge to find the best products on the market. To accomplish that, we need to build strong and secure partnerships with innovative and stable suppliers who can deliver based on our needs. In addition to that, it is inevitable to monitor the trends on the market, evaluate them and avoid any risks in our procurement strategy and adapt the set-up accordingly.
In your opinion, what it is that makes a Commodity Manager?
To keep on staying acquainted with the current trends, opportunities and threats on the market and to build and foster a reliable supply base which is able to ensure the delivery despite possible market related shortfalls and bottlenecks. Furthermore, it is not just important to be in touch with the market but also to keep on interacting and learning from other departments.
What drives you every day?
When you work on something every day that makes you curious and inspires you, you dont have to be pushed to do something but that vision will pull you.
